Meet Dr. Ali Safa, Endocrinology

Dr. Ali Safa
Named 2008 “Top Doctor” by Washingtonian magazine

Medical School – University of Isfahan School of Medicine, Iran

Internship – Greater Baltimore Medical Center

Residency – Cleveland Clinic Foundation
Fellowship – Endocrinology and Metabolism, Cleveland Clinic Foundation
Board certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism and is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and American College of Endocrinology. 
Former president of the Mid Atlantic Chapter of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology and founding chairman of the Washington Bone Club Foundation. He has numerous publications.

At what age did you decide to pursue a medical career and why?
A.
You won’t believe this, but at age seven! I became sick with a febrile illness and was inspired by the doctor who took tare of me. He then became my role model.

What are your particular interests within your specialty?
A.
Thyroid disorders, general endocrinology, diabetes and osteoporosis.

What are your interests outside of work?
A.
Gardening, photography and literature.

What’s the best part about being a physician?
A.

The ability to help others resolve issues and ultimately help people live healthier lives. Helping others provides a great deal of pleasure beyond any other achievement.
