Q.
At what age did you decide to pursue a medical career and why?
A.
I have always been interested in science and in how things work. Once when I was young, I visited my brother in medical school and sat in on one of his classes. In high school I was an athletic trainer. Initially I was interested in dentistry but medicine allowed me to explore more fields.
Q.
What are your particular interests within your specialty?
A.
High risk pregnancies, high blood pressure and diabetes. I am intrigued by taking care of one person who has an illness but the baby doesn’t.
Q.
What are your interests outside of work?
A.
I am a homebody and enjoy working in the yard and relaxing around the house.
Q.
What’s the best part about being a physician?
A.
Making a difference and saving lives. I do a lot of little things and every once in a while I get to do a really big thing like saving a young woman’s life.
