Woodbridge, Va. – Potomac Hospital’s new cafeteria – the Garden Café -- is featured in the summer issue of Foodservice Equipment Reports magazine’s special supplement, Focus on Healthcare Foodservice.
Built in March of 2006, as part of the New Potomac Hospital patient care building, the Garden Café is a full-service facility providing a wide selection of foods and snacks. Families, visitors, and hospital staff are able to relax and enjoy good food in pleasant surroundings either in the café or the outdoor courtyard.
The four-page article featured four pictures of the Café and the cover photo. It focused on the importance of carrying the healing design elements throughout the new patient care building into the Café. According to the designer, it was important that the Garden Café conveyed a welcoming restaurant feel and not a sterile hospital foodservice environment.
The Garden Café is open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The design team for the project was McCulloch England Associates Architects out of Charlotte, N.C., Huelat Parimucha, Ltd., out of Alexandria, Va., and SDI (Systems Design International, Inc.) out of Greenwood Village, Colo.
