Mobile PET/CT Imaging Comes to Sentara Potomac Hospital

Mobile PET/CT imaging services are now available on Mondays and Fridays outside the Irene V. Hylton Emergency Care Center ambulance entrance at Potomac Hospital. The Mobile PET/CT unit provides highly accurate clinical information about initial staging of cancer and response to treatments such as chemotherapy. This helps physicians develop more accurate and effective treatment plans for their patients both initially and as treatment progresses.

PET/CT is an imaging procedure that combines the images from a PET scan and a CT scan. It provides physicians with information about the body’s chemistry and cell function with more precise location of disease. The images and information obtained with PET/CT are not available using other technologies such as CT, MRI or x-ray alone.

A doctor’s prescription is required.
