If You Step On A Crack, We’ll Fix Your Mom’s Back

“Step on a crack, break your mother’s back.” Everyone has heard of this superstitious rhyme at one point or another.

This week, the community is reminded of this childhood rhyme thanks to Sentara Potomac Hospital’s Spine Center. At select locations throughout the area, the Sentara Potomac Hospital Spine Center is wishing all moms a Happy Mother’s Day with a chalk-stenciled message along the cracks of sidewalks.

The Happy Mother’s Day chalk art can be seen at the Shoppes at Lorton Valley, Tackett’s Mill Shopping Center and Sentara Potomac Hospital.

“We thought that this would be a fun way to remind people that Sentara Potomac Hospital now offers minimally invasive surgery for those who suffer from back pain,” says Bill Moss, president of Sentara Potomac Hospital. “As an added plus, we’re wishing all the moms in the community a very Happy Mother’s Day.”

Facts About the Spine Center

Approximately 12,000 new spine injuries occur in the U.S. each year. The Spine Center at Sentara Potomac Hospital specializes in treating a variety of back problems, some with medication, some with physical therapy, and some with surgery, including Minimally Invasive Spinal Surgery.

Minimally invasive surgery means small incisions, shorter hospital stays and less scarring. Our physicians use specially designed surgical tools that are more precise, cause less damage to the surrounding tissue and require much smaller incisions. These benefits promote a faster recovery for the patient.

When you see The Spine Center’s Mother’s Day message, remember that Sentara Potomac Hospital is here to help care for you and your mother’s back, just in case someone steps on one of those pesky cracks.
