Woodbridge, Va. – Potomac Hospital now offers Natural Orifice Surgery (NOS), a minimally invasive option for revisional weight loss surgery. Using a new device called StomaphyX™, doctors can now perform “incisionless” revisional weight loss surgery.
Revisional weight loss surgery is generally reserved for those who have had prior weight loss surgery but failed to lose adequate weight or have regained significant weight. Revisional surgery is generally more complex with higher operative risks, and in select patients, can be performed by a very minimally invasive technique using StomaphyX™.
StomaphyX™ allows doctors to introduce medical tools into the body through the mouth, rather than through an abdominal incision. Incisionless surgery reduces risks, such as infection and hernias, that are associated with traditional surgery and can reduce hospital stay and patient discomfort as well as improve patient recovery and satisfaction.
